AVG Technologies is one of the best-known brands participating in the field of cybersecurity, privacy, productivity, and utility software programs for PCs, Macs, and smartphone devices developed by its parent company Avast. It was established in the Czech Republic. The headquarter of this software solution company is in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 1991, Jan Gritzbach and Tomas Hofer founded Grisoft in 1991 at the Czech Republic. Initially, Grisoft was dealing in IT equipment and third-party software and its own antivirus solutions. Its growing phase started as the country made changes in its foreign trade policies, so it could deal in the technology products with European companies. Till the ending of the year 1998, Grisoft’s total working staff had only Thirteen employees.

In 2006, Grisoft acquired Ewido Networks and started the market promotional activities of the latest AVG software. After the annexation of Exploit Prevention Labs, Grisoft got the license to develop LinkScanner.

In 2008, Grisoft started participating in the US market by bringing up its branch as an American company called AVG Technologies. In 2009, AVG being the prime distributor of the AVG security products in North America, mainly in the United States, brought Walling Data into the market.

AVG acquired the Android mobile security developer DroidSecurity in 2010, and from then, DriodSecurity became AVG’s entirely owned subsidiary. In 2013 and 2015, AVG made two important decisions to acquire Level Platforms and VPN company Privax,” respectively.

In 2014, AVG acquired Location Labs for about $220million. It was a great deal for AVG to enhance its strategies to focus on smartphones. In July 2016, Avast acquired AVG for $1.3 billion. Till then, AVG was working with a staff of just 600 employees and about $155 million in revenue every year.

AVG made an announcement to acquire the UK-based Piriform, the developer of CCleaner, a cleanup application for smartphones with about 130 million installs.
